🪷 Varalakshmi Vratam
Varalakshmi Vratam is performed on the Friday before Pournami in Shravana month. "Varalakshmi" means Lakshmi who grants boons. This vratam is performed by Sumangalis (married women).
Performing this vratam brings the grace of Ashtalakshmi. Wealth, health, children, success, courage, education, grains, prosperity - these are the eight Lakshmis.
Long ago in Kundina city, there lived a woman named Charumati. She was devoted to her husband and to God. One day, Goddess Lakshmi appeared in her dream and asked her to perform this vratam in Shravana month.
Charumati performed the vratam with devotion. Since then, her family received all auspiciousness. Neighboring women who heard this story also performed the vratam and gained prosperity.
