📖 What is Amavasya?
Amavasya (in Sanskrit "ama" = together, "vasya" = dwelling) is the day when Sun and Moon are together in the same zodiac sign. The Moon is not visible from Earth on this day. Amavasya is the 15th and last tithi of Krishna Paksha.
In Hindu tradition, Amavasya is the most sacred day for ancestor worship. It is believed that performing Pitru Tarpana and Shraddha on this day pleases the ancestors.

Offering water with sesame seeds to ancestors. Performing on every Amavasya is auspicious.

Bathing in holy rivers and pilgrimage sites is highly meritorious.
